Art and commerce collide at the jewelry exhibition Art Rocks at the Shizaru Gallery (112 Mount Street; 44-20-7499-2266; www.shizaru.com), on through Jan. 14.   Co-curated by the jewelry specialist Joanna Hardy, the show  includes  items from established designers like Kevin Coates, Leo De Vroomen and Sevan Biçakçi, as well as new talent such as Zoe Arnold and Sophia Mann.

By holding the event in a gallery, the curators hope to represent the jewelry as works of fine art, focusing on the creativity and craftsmanship behind each piece.

Artistry is evident in pieces like “The Glove,” by Shaun Leane, which took five years to make. The piece, with 5,000 pavé white diamonds, are arranged atop more than a thousand grams of 18-carat white gold, resembles a lace evening glove — a very sparkly one. No less elegant are brooches made by Mr. Coates, set with sculptured miniature, mythical creatures. And Mr. Biçakçi’s Sultan Mosque ring is extremely intricate. The back of a dome-shaped gemstone was carved and painted to give a scene a three-dimensional appearance. The ring was created using gold, silver, diamonds and rock crystal with engraved intaglio inspired by Istanbul’s sultan mosques.

“The jewelers have been chosen because their work is art quality, in the sense that they represent the very apex of aesthetic, conceptual and material experimentation within the field,” said Simon Sakhai, the gallery’s director.
